This mosque is another interpretation of the octagonal plan of the Selimiye,
with semidomes or trompes added to each angle of the octagon. The latecomers'
porch is walled in, while the mosque rises above a basement which serves as a
warehouse, as in the case of the Rustem Pasha Mosque.
